Photocopy machine
DISCOVERY
The first photocopy machine was invented in 1938 by Chester Carlson. He found that it was really painful to write papers over and over again in huge amount. He made the first photocopy using a zinc plate covered with sulfur. In 1947, he was hired by Halloid and they changed the company name to Xerox. In 1950, colored toner( a fusible plastic powder used for copying) became available, which made people could print papers in color, although not full. In 1968, 3M company used dye sublimation process to make copies in full color.
HOW THE TECHNOLOGY WORKS
Photocopy machine is used to make paper copies quickly. Most of it uses a process called xerography, which is a dry process of copying using heat (Developed in the 1960s). But 20 years later, it is replaced copies made by Verivax, photostat (early projection photocopier), carbon paper, mimeograph machines (a large old printing machine), and others. Now, you could find photocopy machines almost EVERYWHERE, such as office, schools, homes, and any public buildings. I don’t own this technology, but I think it would be great if I have one at home. I think this technology would still be used 10 years later, but something newer will be invented and used.
